Dubai has become the hub for amazing feats of constructions. From the World’s Tallest Building, to Man Made Islands, there is hardly anything that the city hasn’t seen. Adding another project to the this long list of architectural marvels, Dubai based developer Meydan has recently announced the development of Meydan One – A 3,671,000 sq m (39,514,000 sq ft) Residential & Commercial Project.
What makes this project special is that, once completed, it will hold multiple world titles, which will include the World’s Tallest Residential Tower, The World’s Longest Indoor Ski Slope, The World’s Biggest Dancing Fountains, A Beach, A 5-Star Hotel, A Huge Mall & A 100-Berth Marina.
This 711 mtr (2,333 ft) High Tower, will provide leisure, residential & hospitality services to more than 78,300 Residents living in 885 Apartments. Since it will be the tallest residential tower, it will automatically be given the added title of having the World’s Highest Observation Deck with 360-degree views of the surrounding area.
In addition to residential apartments, the tower will also be home of a mall with over 300 Restaurants, cafes and kiosks, as well a range of retail outlets & nightlife venues. This mall will be covered by a 150m x 80m Retractable Roof that will be opened in the cooler winter months to provide a fun shopping experience to customers.
The Civic Plaza will have a capacity of holding over 60,000 People along with an additional arena for another 8000 people. This space will be used for hosting sporting events, live concerts and theatrical shows. It will contain a floating stage, a waterfall & a 420 m (1,378 ft) long dancing fountain. Adding another attraction to this spectacular venue will be the world’s longest indoor ski slope, stretching for 1.2 km (0.7 mi), located right next door.
A 25,000 sq m (269,100 sq ft) multi-purpose indoor sports arena will provide world class facilities for multiple sports, including but not limited to a 5.3 km (3.3 mi) bicycle & jogging trail, a 9-km (5.6-mi) boardwalk & a 300 m (984 ft)-long beach for swimming, paddle boats & sea kayaking & other beach sports. To top things off, there will also be a water park & a 4-km (2.5-mi) canal.
Vice President, Prime Minister & Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum have officially approved the development of Meydan One, with the first phase of the development being scheduled for completion by 2020, when Dubai is set to host the World Expo.
