Some time ago, Tesla took the humble EV (Electronic Vehicle) Concept & transformed it into a superpowered beast. With beautiful cars & powerful engines, Tesla showed the world a new & healthy way of enjoying vehicles. Since then many car companies have dipped their toes in the pool with launch after launch of exciting concept cars that claim to push the boundaries of automotive engineering.
Now a Taiwanese Electronics Company called Thunder Power has decided to bring their own contender to the market. Simply named the Thunder Power Sedan, this concept packs a huge 125KWH Battery Pack which has a driving range of approximately 650 Kms (404 Miles). This battery takes a massive leap over the 90KWH battery on offer in the Tesla Model S, which was considered the biggest battery on offer in an EV, until now.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, this car comes in two models, a small 230 kW (308 hp) one with 320 Nm of torque, and it’s big brother, a 320 kW (429 hp) one with 560 Nm of torque. These powerful engines are strong enough to propel the cars from 0-100km/h (62mph) in less than 6 seconds for the mini model & less than 5 seconds for the bigger beast. After that these cars can be pushed to a top speed of around 210 km/h (130 mph) & 250 km/h (155 mph) respectively.
Having such powerful engines usually worries owners about the time they’re going to have to waste charging them. Fortunately for them, the cars come equipped with a special Fast Charging System that allows the car to build up a driving range of about 300 km (186 miles) in just a half hour. You can achieve Full Charge in just One Hour with this system. Although if you do it with a standard charger instead of the fast charger, it will take up to six hours instead of one.
Wrapped around this yummy engine is an equally sexy body shell, designed by legendary coach builder Zagato. They have gone with the Tesla theme & covered the entire dashboard of the car with a Touchscreen System that takes care of almost all the major functions of the car, including entertainment for the passengers. This system integrates well with the entire theme of the car & gives the passengers a feel of the car being alive.
There is also a Thunder Power Race Car for those who want an even more powerful experience than already available. However there is not a lot of information regarding it. What we can say for sure however, is that, it will only go into production after the basic sedan, which itself is expected to make it to the markets across the globe sometime during 2017. Until then, it is just a dream, a very powerful dream.
