Professional users and gamers alike, are always in search for the best immersive widescreen experience when it comes to computer usage. Multi-monitor desktops are a great way to achieve that, but setting them up is always difficult, owing to color and resolutions issues.
To solve that problem, Dell has launched a 43 inch 4K monitor, called the P4317Q (or Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor) which gives you the option to run four separate 1080p resolution desktops at the same time.
Since the monitor in itself is one single frame, the four way split gives you a true bezel-less experience. When this feature isn’t activated, the display reverts back to a single monitor display at 3840×2160.
The design is kept simple and sleek, with inbuilt dual 8W speakers, a tiltable cable management stand and a matte finish to help reduce strain. On the connectivity side, you get a RS232 port for remote management, a DisplayPort 1.2, a miniDisplayPort, a legacy VGA 15-pin DSUB, dual HDMI 1.4 ports and a four-port USB 3.0 hub.
Going through this extensive list, it’s easy to guess that Dell has decided to focus exclusively on power users. To make sure that the users don’t have any reason to complain, the P4317Q also gets the ability to accept input from multiple sources simultaneously.
This means that if you have four separate systems which you needed to control at once, you could run all four from the same monitor. By doing that, you will be enjoying a 30% savings in power consumption, as compared to a regular four monitor setup.
By now you would have guessed that this monitor is not for the average user. It’s features and display put it in the high end user segment. It’s price too reflects that, at a retail price of $1,349.99.
If you think that you can make use of this amazing monitor, and have the money to spare, then by all means, go ahead and get one for yourself.
