Water Filtration is an important and unavoidable task performed by millions of people daily. But, with increasing water pollution, the viruses found in water too are becoming more resistant to regular filtration methods.
This increases the demand for a new kinds of high tech solutions which can help clean your water easily, plus also save you a lot of money while doing it.
With that aim in mind, scientists have developed a sheet of Paper, called Mille-Feuille, that can filter all sorts of resistant viruses out of water quite easily.
They achieve this by creating these sheets from several layers of green algae based Cellulose Nanofibres which are great at capturing all sorts of bacteria and viruses.
Since the material is abundant in nature, it also makes solution incredibly cheap as well. In addition to being cheap, the paper is also reusable, so that you don’t have to run to the market every other day to refill your supply.
Now that this technology has been proven in it’s effectiveness, the researchers can now focus on determining the lifespan of each paper, which would not only set the safety standards for it, but also given an estimate on what it’s going to take to make this a scalable product.
The journey to a finished product may be a long one, but once all that is done, we can expect to see a revolution in the way we deal with water based diseases.
