Living with any disease can be a hassle for people. This hassle becomes even more prominent when the diseases in question, forces you to use special medical treatments that often restrict your regular lifestyle.
One of the more common medical equipment’s that force people into situations like this are the various types of heart pumps used to keep a person’s heart beating regularly.
It goes without saying that when faced with such situations, most people decide to make drastic changes to their lifestyles in order to accommodate their new condition.
But Andrew Jones isn’t one of those people. This Connecticut based fitness model and bodybuilder has decided to live an active and healthy life despite his condition.
The condition in question is called cardiomyopathy, a cardiac disease that can lead to irregular heart rate, shortness of breath and even sudden cardiac arrest if not taken care of properly.
To take care of this disease, Andrew is forced to wear an LVAD, or Left Ventricular Assist Device, which is basically an artificial heart pump that works with a pacemaker that he carries in a backpack around with him everywhere he goes.
In doing so, he can take care of all his strenuous physical activities while the machine constantly keeps a check on his blood flow rate and helps to keep it pumping naturally.
While the arrangement is certainly uncomfortable, it still is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, which is helping the young man not only survive, but also thrive.
